A Satsuma trumpet vase
19th Century
with waisted foot, painted and gilt with a panel showing bijin and children on a river bank lined with flowering shrubs, cherry blossom and pine, all before pavilions and mountains and within flowerhead and diaper pattern borders -- 9in. (22.8cm.) high, (restoration to rim), signed Dai Nihon, Kyoto, Tojiki Goshigaisha, Ryozan no sei, below the Yasuda company trade mark. (Great Japan, Kyoto porcelain company, genuine Ryozan); and a Satsuma tripod cylindrical jar and cover, with fruit finial, painted and gilt with panels of dignitaries on a terrace and figures working in rice fields, a panel of flower sprays around the cover -- 4 7/8in. (12.4cm.) high, (hairline crack to rim), signed Ryozan
