A framed German carved ivory plaque**
Circa 1870
Deeply carved with a scene depicting Venus riding on the back of two dolphins, accompanied by a nereid and conch-blowing triton, in a later cream and gilt-painted frame
The ivory: 4in. (10.1cm.) high; 9in. (22.8cm.) wide; 1 1/8in. (2.8cm.) deep

The Estate of Clara Peck Caulfield, Pasadena, California.
