A George III black and gilt japanned tavern clock, circa 1790
The circular dial with moulded frame, above tear-drop trunk, the door decorated with chinoiserie figures, with later/repainted signature above Just. Vulliamy London, the repainted dial with Roman and Arabic chapters, brass hands and brass winding hole cover, doors to each side of the back box, the four pillar single train movement with anchor escapement and triangular plates; the dial possibly replaced -- 47¼in. (120cm.) high
