A watercolour of Le Pont Louis XVI, Paris, dated 1832 was painted in a similar style to the present watercolour with a dry application of pigment and an intense light across the sheet, F.G. Roe, Cox the Master: The Life and Art of David Cox, Leigh-on-Sea, 1946, pl. 2, illustrated in colour.
