A beautifully-produced catalogue from the French carriage maker Million-Guiet, with fine hand-finished chromolithographed plates of carriages ranging from the elegantly simple to highly complex vehicles. Along with other production houses such as Labourdette and Felber, Million-Guiet shared their activities between horse-drawn carriages and automobiles, when the French motor car industry took off in 1891. Despite technical advances, motor cars in the 19th century retained the aesthetic lines of horse-drawn carriages in body shape and accessories and involved the same traditional trades of saddlers, cabinetmakers, blacksmiths and painters.
