A QUEEN ANNE SILVER-HILTED SMALL-SWORD
London Britannia standard silver hallmarks for 1702
With a fine slender double-edged German blade of flattened hexagonal section changing to flattened diamond towards the point, etched and gilt throughout its length with fine scrollwork involving standing figures (five aside) each labelled with the name of a historical or legendary Classical personage (some repeated), plain hilt hallmarked on both the knuckle-guard and shell, and wooden grip bound with silver wire, silversmith's mark of Thomas Vicarage
