Lot Essay

In this drawing, Cézanne sketched, seen from the back, the plaster cast of L'amour (believed to be after a sculpture by Pierre Puget or his school) he owned, and which may still be seen in his studio in Aix-en-Provence. Around and even covering the drawing are pencil calculations in Cézanne's handwriting.
