A Pair of Porcelain Map Vases
Late Edo-Meiji period (late 19th century), with inscribed date Tempo nen sei (Made in the Tempo era [1830-1843]),
the bottle vases set on a ring foot and with slightly everted mouth and decorated in underglaze cobalt with a map of Japan, the islands moulded in low-relief, the surrounding areas with cloud patterns, the neck and recessed base with a thick crackled glaze
