A FLINTLOCK BLUNDERBUSS

With heavy belled iron barrel in three stages, the breech section octagonal then polygonal, plain iron tang, signed rounded lock engraved with strawberry foliage, a monster-head and a profile satyr's mask (cock a working replacement), moulded artificially figured maple full stock with raised panel at the barrel tang (cracks and old repairs, fore-end possibly reduced during its working life), engraved brass mounts, pierced scroll side-plate with monster-head finials, moulded butt-plate engraved with strawberry foliage and with long tang, trigger-guard engraved with a bird, cast and chased escutcheon, baluster brass ramrod-pipes, and incomplete brass-capped ramrod (iron parts with light surface pitting and some rust), London proof marks
