The case with brass handle to inverted belltop, glazed sides and on brass bracket feet, foliate pierced ebony quarter frets to the moulded front door, the gilt-brass breakarch dial signed Charles Cabrier In BROAD STREET LONDON on a recessed silvered plaque flanked by subsidiary silvered rings for strike/silent and pendulum regulation, silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, the matted centre with mock pendulum and calendar apertures, foliate spandrels, the good quality movement with thick brass plates and five ringed pillars, twin gut fusees, pivoted verge escapement with steel suspended pendulum secured to a brass bar raised and lowered by a snail cam controlled from the front of the dial, the strike on a large bell with pull quarter repeat on six bells via six hammers, the foliate engraved backplate with pendulum holdfast and similarly engraved movement securing brackets to the case
