A George III mahogany longcase clock with later quarter chimes
The hood with brass caps with Prince of Wales feathers to the swan neck pediment, verre eglomisé panels below, the outset reeded columns with Corinthian capitals, conforming reeded pilasters to the rear slats, with dentil mouldings above arched trunk door with moulded frame and flanked by reeded three-quarter length half columns, above plinth with moulded panel and canted angles, the 14in. wide brass dial with Indian mask spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with dot minute track, the silvered and engraved centre with subsidiary seconds ring and applied plaque signed Rich. Scholfield/ROCHDALE, the arch above with rolling moon and inscription Time Flies, the eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on later gong, now with additional quarter train giving quarter chimes on a nest of eight bells -- 88in. (224cm.) high
