Edo period (19th century), signed Koma Kyuhaku saku
Slender and lacquered in gold, silver, black and red takamaki-e with a large planter of lilies and rocks and with two butterflies, the planter finished to simulate silver with flush-inlaid gold fret designs of togidashi, the lilies and wings of the butterflies highlighted with inlaid shell and gold foil and the soil in the planter kirigane and inlaid shell and colored stones, the background kinji, interiors fundame; fitted with an ivory ojime carved with two masks and an ivory netsuke carved as a floral spray on a pile of cut wood, a saw on the underside, signed Anraku
