A German oak quarter-chiming mantel clock, late 19th/early 20th century
The architectural case with carved fretwork side doors, metal fret panel to the rear door, the square dial with foliate spandrels, silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with retail signature KNIGHT & SON NORTHAMPTON, matted centre, with subsidiary rings above for regulation and chime/silent, the eight day triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, quarter chimes on four gongs and hour strike on further gong, stamped on the back plate for Winterhalder & Hofmeier -- 18½in. (47cm.) high
