2 parts in one volume, 4o (236 x 180 mm). First title-page printed on red and black, woodcut device on both titles. 46 engraved plates and several woodcuts in text (some occasional browning, a few plates with small tears, one plate with repair on verso). (Gatherings *, **, and A1 loose in text block, some occasional light foxing, mostly at outer margins.) Modern calf, top edge stained black, others speckled. Provenance: The Wellcome Library (withdraw stamp on verso of title-page).

FIRST EDITION, the first part containing 100 anatomicial and surgical observations by Ruysch, and the second part containing the first descriptive account of his famous anatomical museum. Displayed in several rented houses in Amsterdam, the museum was a major attraction for foreign visitors. In 1717, Ruysch sold his collection to Peter the Great for 30,000 guilders.
