The case with gilt handle to the stepped top with large bevel glazed escapement viewing aperture, ripple mouldings to the cornice, moulded base on ajustable gilt-brass bun feet, the gilt dial intricately engraved with tight scrolling foliage, gilt Roman chapter ring with heart-pierced blued steel hands, signed Payne & Co. 163 New Bond St London, strike/silent lever above XII, the five pillar twin chain fusee movement with anchor escapement and strike on a blued steel gong, pendulum holdfast to backplate
