A VICTORIAN SILVER CUP AND COVER
MARK OF ROBERT GARRARD, LONDON, 1868
Tapering cylindrical and on a lobed domed foot, the lower part of the body applied with cut-card foliage, with two leaf-capped harp-shaped handles and a gadrooned rim, the conforming cover with a baluster finial, engraved on one side with initials 'MR' below a Royal crown, the other with an inscription, marked underneath and on cover, the base further stamped 'GARRARDS PANTON STREET LONDON'; with a card from Barnwell Manor, Peterborough inscribed in an unknown hand 'From Her Majesty Queen Mary Godmother'

The inscription reads 'To my Grandson and Godson William Henry Andrew Frederick on his Christening 22nd February 1942'
The initial is that of H.M. Queen Mary (1867-1953).
