Château Latour--Vintage 1997
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Tasting Note: No Petit Verdot used in the blend because of rot. First tasted alongside the '96 at the château in September 1998: deep, fairly intense; a whiff of liquorice; surprisingly sweet, in fact delicious with pleasant, oaky, endtaste. Again the following March. I liked it enormously, recording an aroma of raspberry and cedar. Sweet again. 'Lovely fruit. Complete' At Rodenstock's blind tasting I though the flavour was better than the nose which i discribed as sweet, slightly chocolatey, rich and chewy. A bit lean. Last tasted November 2001. **** M.B.
