in the manner of the Theremin brothers, with partly rubbed maker's marks, the St. Petersburg town mark, circa 1800, and the Russian standard mark for 14-carat (56 zolotniki) gold, later struck with two French post-1893 import marks for gold
Flattened rectangular box with rounded corners, the cover inset with a rectangular enamel plaque depicting Lake Geneva with cattle and figures in the foreground, sailing ships on the lake, the Mont-Blanc, Mole, Petit Salève, Monnetier and Geneva in the background, within a half-pearl border, the sides and base enamelled with translucent royal blue on an engine-turned flinqué diaperwork ground, the base framed by a scrolling and foliate taille d'épargne gold on black enamelled ground, the corners of the sides enamelled in blue and black with gold taille d'épargne foliate scrolls
