Georg Willer, bookseller at Augsburg, was the first to issue a catalogue of newly published books which were available at the spring and autumn trade fair at Frankfurt. It was an attempt to list all new publications issued in Europe, and these Frankfurt book fair catalogues "represent the first international bibliography of a periodic character" (Folter and Breslauer, no. 24). The first catalogue appeared in 1564; catalogues of the bookfair in the 16th century are rare on the market. (3)
