A GERMAN BREAST-PLATE OF GLOBOSE TYPE, DECORATED WITH LATER ETCHING OF A KNIGHT AND CHRIST CRUCIFIED
circa 1530-40
Struck with Nuremberg mark, of slightly boxed form with very low ridges running down the centre and from the middle point of the arm openings to the base, with strong angular turns at the neck and arm gussets, the latter moving on sliding rivets, recessed subsidiary borders, original waist plate carrying two of the original skirt lames, the third associated, all shaped in continuation of the boxed form of the breast, decorated with later Crucifixion Scene involving a kneeling Knight, and fitted with later folding lance-rest.
