A small Longquan celadon dish (1279-1368)
of shallow square form supported on a conforming foot, delicately moulded on the interior with a panel of lively deer surrounded by clouds, each of the shallow everted sides with a quatrefoil cartouche enclosing a single character flanked by flowerheads, the characters reading tian zhi mei lu, the base decorated with a moulded shou character - 3 7/8in. (9.8cm.) wide, box; and a Longquan celadon twin-fish dish, the small dish potted with steep sides moulded on the interior with a pair of encircling fish - 5¼in. (13.3cm.) diam. (2)

Literature
The characters tian zhi mei lu may be translated as "the beauty of heavenly prosperity". Lu, meaning prosperity or happiness, is a pun on lu, or deer.
