Modelled by Franz Kotta in low-relief with a bust-length portrait of a gentleman in profile to the right, possibly Christian Nonne, his hair en queue, against a biscuit ground within a glazed integral reeded frame, the reverse and top edge cut with a pierced aperture for suspension

Lot Essay

See Helmut Scherf, Thüringer Porzellan (Leipzig, 1980), p. 38 for a very similar plaque with the same sitter, identified as Christian Nonne. Nonne was a merchant from Erfurt who leased and managed the Volkstedt factory.
