A porcelain tea and coffee set
by the Popov Porcelain Factory, Moscow, first half 19th century
Comprising a coffee-pot, a tea-pot, a milk-jug, a covered sugar-bowl, twelve cups and saucers and a slop bowl. The blue bodies with everted gilt rims brightly painted with a band of roses, forget-me-nots and other wild flowers, gilt details, saucers with gilt interiors, coffee-pot, tea-pot and a milk-jug with shaped handles and spouts, on spreading feet, sugar bowl with handles shaped as rams' heads, slop bowl with a gilt rosette in the centre, marked under bases with blue underglaze Cyrillic monogram 'AP' and various incised numbers and Cyrillic letter 'Zh'
