A HUANGHUALI BASIN STAND, MIANPENJIA
18TH/19TH CENTURY
With crest rail terminating in addorsed dragon heads above aprons carved in openwork with dragons in pursuit of a pearl flanked by spandrels carved as billowing clouds, above a reticulated panel carved with five bats, wufu, holding auspicious emblems in their mouths while they flitter above crashing waves, with further carved decorative aprons joining the rounded members of the frame, connected to the basin stand by an upper and lower wheel-shaped stretcher of six spokes, the tops of the legs of the stand terminating in carved finials
