A RARE WUCAI YELLOW-GROUND 'DRAGON' DISH
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN BLACK WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The interior of the dish is decorated in wucai with a green dragon and a blue dragon leaping amidst clouds and flames as they contest a flaming pearl. The exterior is decorated with a repeating design of cranes and scrolling clouds.

Compare the similar Kangxi-marked wucai yellow-ground 'dragon' dish sold at Christie's New York, 1 June 1990, lot 280. Another pair of Kangxi-marked dishes of this design, but of slightly larger size (14.5 cm.), illustrated in Ch'ing Polychrome Porcelain, Oriental Ceramic Society, London, 1977, no. 35.
