A BLUE-OVERLAY WHITE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
PROBABLY PALACE WORKSHOPS, BEIJING, 1730-1780
The bottle is carved through the sapphire-blue overlay to the white ground on one side with a continuous scene depicting the sun rising from waves below clouds, a bat suspending a peach and a crane grasping a tally in its beak. The other side is decorated with a large pavilion surrounded by crashing waves.
3 1/8 in. (7.8 cm.) high, agate stopper
