AN OLIVE-GREEN AND 'RUSSET' JADE SNUFF BOTTLE
MASTER OF THE ROCKS SCHOOL, 1740-1850
One side is carved with a scholar at the bottom of a mountainous path that leads to a terrace at the top, the reverse is carved with bamboo and prunus, and one narrow side with a bridge crossing water cascading from mountain cliffs. Added russet color has been used to enhance the opaque buff inclusions in the stone.
2 5/8 in. (6.7 cm.) high, pink tourmaline stopper
