Lot Essay

Following the four-year development and successful release of the Fender Johnny Marr Signature Jaguar in January 2012 (see footnotes to lot 82 and 83), Fender refinished a stock Olympic White Signature Jaguar in this custom colour variant for Marr circa 2014. Marr played this guitar during his set at the Heritage Live festival in the grounds of the Audley End Estate in Saffron Walden, Essex, on 1 August 2024, including for The Smiths’ songs ‘How Soon Is Now?’ and ‘There Is a Light That Never Goes Out’. At some point after the show, the guitar’s original neck was switched with the neck from another of Marr’s signature models.
