Named in honor of a famous Spanish bull that fought valiantly in the early 1990s, Lamborghini debuted the Aventador at Geneva in February 2011 as the highly anticipated replacement for the Murciélago, which revitalized the storied Italian marque. Recalling the singular Miura SVJ developed by Bob Wallace in the early 1970s, the modern Aventador SVJ’s model suffix signifies Super Veloce Jota, meaning “superfast” in Italian, with “Jota” referencing Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Appendix J racing regulations.

The Aventador SVJ 63 is anexclusive special edition of the formidable Aventador SVJ, with a limited run of 63 numbered units honoring 1963, the year Ferruccio Lamborghini founded Automobili Lamborghini. Its worldwide debut came at Monterey Car Week in August 2018, alongside the “standard” SVJ, if that humble descriptor could ever apply to a Lamborghini model.

Distinguishing features of the Aventador SVJ 63 include additional exposed carbon fibre bodywork, bespoke exterior liveries, and made-to-order interior treatments developed by Lamborghini Centro Stile and offered via its Ad Personam program, plus individual numbering for each example produced. Mechanical specifications match those of the all-out Aventador SVJ, including a DOHC 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V-12 engine producing 770 PS. Peak power output is reached at a screaming 8,400 engine revolutions.

Given the all-out performance expected of a modern Lamborghini model bearing the hallowed “SVJ” model suffix, the Aventador SVJ 63 is essentially a racing car for the road with its stunning performance maximized by its extensive lightweight materials. Active aerodynamics, courtesy of Lamborghini’s ALA 2.0 system, include twin flaps in the nose of the car, both of which automatically open at high speeds and direct the airflow underneath the car, reducing aerodynamic drag and optimizing speed. When brakes are applied, these flaps flip, closing airflow underneath the car and redirecting it through two hood vents, increasing drag and downforce, thereby improving control and braking force.

The Aventador SVJ’s rear wing works in concert with a central vent near the aft section of the engine bay, directing air upward and into the wing itself. At high speeds, this vent remains open, and air flowing from the wing’s leading edge is forced underneath, ideal for high-speed air penetration. When brakes are applied, the vent closes and allows the wing to return to normal operation. Another cutting edge is aero vectoring, where the vent is split into two vents. During fast cornering, one half of the vent can remain open with the other half closed, allowing the wing to steer the car around the corner.

Consistent with its progenitor, ferocious published performance credentials include 0–100 km/h, acceleration in just 2.9 seconds, and a top speed over 350 km/h. Unsurprisingly, the Aventador SVJ held the fiercely contested Nürburgring-Nordschleife lap record for production cars, with a time of 6:44:97.

Serviced in 2023 at 167 km at Sports Cars Sales and Service AG of Lugano at a cost of CHF 7,600, and offered with just 195 km at the time of cataloguing, this Aventador SVJ 63 features a striking matte white exterior finish over a white and black interior. Produced honoring Ferruccio Lamborghini’s supremely bold move to establish Automobili Lamborghini, this 2018 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 also honors the original, Bob Wallace-developed Lamborghini Miura SVJ that helped establish the company’s competition program. Coming from an exclusive private collection housed in Switzerland, this unforgettable Aventador SVJ 63 is, simply put, a design and engineering tour de force and a true modern Lamborghini icon.
