the case with dentil cornices to the flat top hood, ogee moulded door flanked by brass-capped columns, with three-quarter pilasters flanking the wavy arch trunk door, raised panel to the plinth, the 12in. (31cm.) square brass dial with cherub mask and foliate spandrels to the brass chapter ring signed Tho.s Lister Luddenden, the matted and engraved centre with date aperture, penny moon and age of moon, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike, associated; dial and movement mid 18th century, case late 18th century -- 85in.
