An Italian Partisan
Early 17th Century
The head with long, narrow triangular blade of flattened diamond section, with crescent-shaped side-wings, the lower half etched with running foliage framing, on each face of the base, a shield with the arms of Clari of Milan, linked by a reeded moulding to the tapering eight-side socket, and two side-straps (incomplete) on later cloth-covered wooden staff (cloth damaged)
