A George III ebonised striking bracket clock, circa 1770
The case with handle to inverted bell top, later pierced brass quarter frets to front door, glazed side panels, on block feet with wavy aprons between, silvered chapter ring with foliate spandrels, with date and mock pendulum apertures to the matted centre, signed on a silvered plaque Thos. Nourse London, strike/silent ring in the arch, the five pillar twin gut fusee movement with re-built verge escapement, strike and trip repeat on bell, pendulum holdfast to the backplate engraved with dragons, foliate scrolls and chinoiserie pagodas -- 17¾in. (45cm.) high
