A rare roironuri ground lacquer violin case
Late 18th/Early 19th Century
Decorated in gold, silver and iroe hiramakie, takamakie with two pheasants with inlaid eyes, in a rocky landscape beside a flowering plum tree, the sides with a landscape of islands and boats, the interior with five small compartments depicting foliage, the kanagu with flowers and scrolling foliage, the interior is lined with ribbed purple velvet, some old wear and chipping to the lacquer
