Of serpentine outline with a rectangular row of eight spouted oil fonts at the base, centered with a cluster of fruits and flowers surmounted by a crown, the backplate bordered with scrolling floral designs and rosettes in roundels, flanked on each side with the Lion of Judah, on bracket feet, marked on backplate and reverse

Lot Essay

Active as early as 1883 in Hanau, brothers Valentin and Ferdinand were regarded for their fabrication of silver and silver-mounted objects for both secular and religious use. Another Hanukkah lamp by the firm is currently held in the collection of The Jewish Museum, New York.
