This January, Christie’s is pleased to present a new take on Americana Week—a series of four auctions that now includes 19th Century American Art. The week will feature an array of outstanding fine and decorative arts that graced early American homes, from best-in-kind American Folk Art from The Collection of Peter and Barbara Goodman and an enchanting winter landscape by Frederic Church to prized examples of Chinese Export Porcelain. Iconic works, including a magnificent Philadelphia Queen Anne armchair, a 1776 Ratzer map of New York City in color, engravings of Lexington and Concord by Doolittle, notable portraits of George Washington and colonial silver headline the sale of Important Americana. Across these categories, the lots offered will have broad appeal and Christie’s invites both seasoned collectors and new buyers to browse these remarkable works.
Viewing of the Americana Week auctions in our Rockefeller Center galleries is by appointment only from 13 – 18 January. Please click here to make a reservation or take our virtual tour.
