Christie's Fall Photographs auction in New York will feature exceptional works spanning the history of the medium, from twentieth-century masterworks to important contemporary photographs. The sale brings together a distinguished selection of property from private collections and offers a broad survey of the medium's artistic innovation and enduring impact.

Highlights include Robert Mapplethorpe's Man in Polyester SuitIrving Penn's Lavender Glory Poppy, New York, and a Peter Hujar photograph of David Wojnarowicz . The sale is further distinguished by a significant group of photographs by Robert Adams. Known for his understated black-and-white depictions of the American West, Adams documents the region's evolving landscape with remarkable clarity and restraint, offering a rare opportunity to acquire works by one of the defining figures of post-war American photography.

Prior joining Christie’s in 2023, she was an Associate Specialist at Bonhams New York. Lillian holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute where she majored in Photography.

Vice President, Specialist, Head of Department | Photographs

Rebecca Jones is a Vice President, Specialist and the Head of Department in the Photographs department in New York. In her current role, Rebecca helps source and appraise photographs for all upcoming international Photographs auctions. She oversees the research and cataloguing for all photographs confirmed for auction and private sales in New York.

Before joining Christie’s Photographs department in 2015, she served as the Archive Manager of the Peter Hujar Archive in New York. She also previously held a position as the Registrar for a prestigious private collection of Contemporary, Post-War and Modern art located across several residences throughout the world Rebecca holds a BA degree from The Corcoran College of Art and Design and an MA degree in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
