The handle-plates lanceolate, each with a head of Silenus filling the tapering end, with a long flowing beard and a mustache, his locks individually rendered, with full cheeks and almond-shaped eyes beneath arching brows, his upturned equine ears incised, volutes above, the upturned handles fluted, perforated for attachment
