                                            AN ENGLISH CAVALRY TROOPER'S MORTUARY SWORD 
circa 1640-50
With German double-edged blade stamped 'Me Fecit' on one face and '(Soli)ngen' on the reverse at the forte, iron hilt of slender flattened bars carrying a solid guard chiselled with foliage and masks in characteristic style, coarsely chiselled pommel and wire-bound leather-covered grip (the blade pitted).
