Dr. Giulio Bora suggested an attribution to Camillo Boccacino (1504-1546) and proposed that the drawing is for the Entry of Charles V into Cremona in 1541.

Lot Essay

As the presence of the niche and the shape of the drawing indicates, this might be a study for the space between the windows of a painted faade. Bernardino Campi was very active as a faade painter, but none has survived. This is comparable to drawings in the Louvre, G. Bora, I Campi, exhib. cat., Milan, 1985, no. 2.10.4 and 2.10.9.
