THE FIRST BY KLAWITTER IN HERZBERG, NO. 1182, CIRCA 1830, THE SECOND CIRCA 1850

The first with rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrel, octagonal breech with gold lines (maker's mark missing), pierced platinum plug, long tang engraved with foliage, signed 'Klawitter in Herzberg. Vincent fecit', numbered 2 in gold, and incorporating an adjustable back-sight, box-lock action engraved with foliage, engraved safety-bolster, figured walnut full stock, chequered butt, iron mounts including spur trigger-guard engraved with a martial trophy, trigger-plate with pineapple finial, two vacant white-metal escutcheons, set trigger, and later ramrod (some wear overall); the second with browned octagonal sighted barrel, case-hardened scroll engraved breech, tang and lock, figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip with iron aperture for a shoulder-stock, scroll engraved white-metal mounts, and wooden ramrod
