Lot Essay

As the bulldog of Madame Palmyre (the proprietor or 'Madame' of the Maison close, La Souris) appears in this print as well as in two other lithographs dated 1897, Adhémar dated it to the same year, which for stylistic reasons is more convincing than Delteil's later date of 1901.
