An Attic red-figure lekythos, attributed to the Icarus Painter
End of second quarter of 5th Century B.C.
The black lip with unpainted top, the neck plain, the shoulder with double row of rays, above the scene a meander band with line above and below, a reserved band below the scene running around the body, the foot black with reserved edge and graffito inscription underneath: ('I belong to Aphrodite'), on the body, domestic scene: a young woman stands before a column holding large elaborate basket decorated with stopped meander and checked motif, she wears chiton and himation and has her hair in a sakkos, behind her a klismos (chair) with cushion and a mirror hanging in the field, (intact, pitting on otherwise fine glossy surface)
