An Apulian Xenon ware plate
Mid 4th Century B.C.
The entire plate black glazed with decoration added in red, the inside of foot reserved, decoration: short rays around the edge, the interior with two concentric circles and a laurel wreath, in the centre a swan standing in profile to the left within four concentric circles and twisted band (intact, very small chip to outer rim); and an Apulian owl skyphos, black glazed interior, exterior A and B: owl in profile with face frontal between two vertical olive branches, reserved line below scene, (intact save one small repair by handle with small restoration)
