A Meissen hexagonal baluster tea-caddy and cover
Circa 1728, indistinct blue crossed swords mark, gilder's numerals 75. to both pieces
Each side painted with harbour scenes, European and Turkish merchants on quaysides, at discussion and unloading cargo before ships and rocky outcrops beneath cloudy skies, the angles with broad gilt ribs, the shoulder enriched in gilding, the circular cover with gilt central lozenge issuing scrolls (two chips to footrim, slight rubbing to shoulder)
