Late 15th Century
With broad tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section ending in a sharp point and struck with a mark within the short fuller on each side of the forte, horizontally recurved iron quillons of triangular section widening slightly towards the tips, shaped rectangular iron pommel with a large raised boss on each side, and corded grip

This is an unusually fine example of its type, and probably came from the Venice arsenal (for use by Dalmatian troops in the service of Venice). A large number are now in the Palazzo Ducale. Cf. Claude Blair, European and American Arms, No. 52
