The eight-sided vessel set on eight raised bracket feet and moulded at the top of the shoulder with a short, cylindrical spout, painted in pale underglaze blue about the body with a continuous frieze of arched grasses above a slender line and decorated on the lid with a darker blue carp leaping from waves below a 'flaming pearl' within an incised octagonal line also painted in cobalt blue--3 3/8in. (8.4cm.) high, 4½in. (11.5cm.) diameter, foot chips, spout restored
