The rectangular writing box decorated in gold hiramaki-e and inlaid mother-of-pearl with plum blossoms growing behind a brush fence on a roiro ground, the fence rendered in mother-of-pearl inlaid in a lattice pattern within a gold lacquer frame, all of which continues on the sides of box with additional gold lacquer plum florets, the interior of the box decorated in gold hiramaki-e with pine needles on a matching ground; fitted with an inkstone, copper mizuire and removable rectangular brush container--8¼ x 6 x 1 3/8in. (20.9 x 15.3 x 3.5cm.), surface scratches, losses to mother-of-pearl, wear
