ENCIRCLED KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The broad medallion delicately enamelled with Magu holding a ruyi sceptre beside an attendant holding a bamboo pole suspending lingzhi fungus behind a spotted deer pulling a cart containing a vase, the everted rim pencilled in iron-red with lotus florettes on a honeycomb diaper ground with the inscription in seal script wan shou wu jiang, longevity without end (three restored rim chips)

A similar example is illustrated by du Boulay, Christie's Pictorial History of Chinese Ceramics, p. 227, col. pl. 2. A closely related plate from the same service but depicting Magu behind a mythical beast drawing a cart of lingzhi fungus and her attendant holding a peach stem, is illustrated in Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, p. 69, col. pl. 52, from the Palace Museum, Beijing.
