A George III japanned longcase clock, third quarter 18th century
The hood with pagoda top surmounted by giltwood onion finials and centred by a mirrored panel, with glazed side panels and outset brass-capped columns, the breakarch trunk door decorated with chinoiserie figures and pagodas, on shortened plinth, the brass dial with engraved border and mask and foliate spandrels, with silvered convex disc to the arch signed Edw. Moore Oxon with coronet cresting and supported by two cherubs, the silvered chapter ring with matted centre and subsidiary seconds ring, ringed winding holes, the date aperture with engraved border of doves and fruiting basket, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement
