The case with gilt-metal handle to inverted bell top, later fishscale sound frets to the sides and later quarter frets to the front door, the dial signed Joseph Stephens London on a silvered plaque in the matted centre with mock pendulum and calendar apertures, silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands (later minute hand), foliate spandrels, strike/silent ring in the arch (later hand), the five pillar twin fusee movement with verge escapement and strike on bell, foliate engraved backplate signed Josh. Stephens, London within a foliate cartouche and with similarly engraved securing brackets to the case
